An awkward hello!
« on: August 14, 2016, 07:13:50 AM »
Hello all, my name is Corinthia! I was born and raised in Eugene, I'm currently attending university, and I am quite nervous to get involved with any kind of local Star Wars fanbase, since I am both quite new to being a SW fan, and quite shy. I've recently gotten into sewing with more zeal than ever before, and have been slowly planning and starting on two Padme costumes from Ep. II (packing gown and purple Senate gown). But being as I'm very involved with the Sith faction over on the Jedi Council forums, I would love to also think about and start work on an Imperial or First Order officer uniform! (Because I simply love being a baddie.)

In the meantime, while my costumes are still under construction, I thought it might be a good idea to introduce myself to the rest of the Oregon SW community! (Also, was this the correct place to post?)

Welcome Corinthia. I think you found the right place. There are many people here who have different levels of shy-ness so don't feel like you are alone. There are several very friendly and helpful people in this group down your way. Can't wait to shake hands at some point and will definitely be interested to see your work. Welcome to the forums.

Thank you very much! I'm very excited to have all you guys as a resource and community. And hopefully my work will be up to snuff! I've been doing a lot of hand-embroidery for my Padme gowns... it's definitely a labor of love.

Welcome!  I'm excited about your costume ideas.  Those will be great additions.  We have a lot of great troops in and around Eugene, the Eucon in November being a big one.  A great way to get started is to assist as a "spotter" helper, to meet members and see what it's about, if that interests you.

I was shy and nervous in the beginning, but was welcomed and everyone helped me.  This is an incredible group of people.

Welcome aboard!

We're all new at some point, so we all know how it feels!

Glad to have you here. Let us know how we can help. There are a lot of great resources for you to tap into. Once you get that first smile on your first troop all the painstaking hours will be worth it. Just ask Josh (Beckett)! He has more hours in that Chewbacca costume than I care to think about and it shows! See you soon!

welcome aboard. We do have many members in the Eugene Area.    Look at spotter thread to see if you can assist in local events and also in Portland. While you get your costume together. Enjoy the boards. looking forward to see you at future events.

Greetings and welcome to the forum.

No worries about being shy. I've always been shy, still am. So I know how it is. Heh.

Hi, I'm in Eugene too.
I've been working on getting my Tie Pilot costume back into order so I can troop with the garrison.
Welcome.
